Learn how Texas’ new School Choice initiative—also known as Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA)—may benefit current and future St. Paul families.
Beginning in the Fall of 2026, eligible Texas families may receive state-funded support to help pay for private school tuition and other approved educational expenses through the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program.
-
In September 2025, Senate Bill 2 (SB2) was signed into law, officially creating the Texas Education Freedom Accounts program. This legislation is designed to expand educational options for families by providing financial assistance for students who enroll in accredited non-public schools, such as St. Paul.
While exact funding amounts will be confirmed by the state, current guidance indicates that participating families may receive approximately $10,000 per student per year. These funds may be used for:
Private school tuition
Required fees
Educational materials
Approved instructional services
Other qualifying educational expenses
The goal of TEFA/ESA is to make private education more accessible and affordable for families across Texas.
-
St. Paul is actively monitoring requirements to participate in the TEFA program, but approval won’t be finalized until all implementation details have been released. .
We are committed to keeping our families, and anyone interested in pursuing education at St. Paul for their child(ren) fully informed throughout the process. Participation could provide meaningful financial support and open the door for more students to benefit from a St. Paul education.
